Concept Web
The Concept Web question type assesses whether learners understand how concepts relate to each other — not just whether they can recall isolated facts. Learners drag concept labels and relationship labels onto a radial diagram, demonstrating their understanding of the connections between ideas.
Ideal for science, social studies, CTE, and any subject where understanding relationships between concepts matters more than memorizing definitions. Responses are automatically scored with partial credit and node-level diagnostic feedback.
Try it
Drag concept labels from the tray onto the correct positions in the diagram. If the diagram includes relationship labels, drag those onto the correct edges as well.

The Scoring Challenge We've Solved
Concept webs are inherently flexible — multiple placements can be equally valid when nodes share the same relationship structure. Our automatic scoring handles this complexity:
- Partial credit — Each node and edge is scored independently, giving learners credit for what they got right
- Interchangeable positions — When multiple nodes have identical relationship structures, any valid arrangement is accepted
- Relationship scoring — Both concept placement and relationship labels are assessed
- Distractor support — Extra labels in the tray test whether learners can distinguish relevant concepts from irrelevant ones
Note: The concept web question type can be set to provide immediate feedback (as in this demo), delayed feedback through a "Check Answer" button, or no feedback for summative use cases.
